Open "B" and SSC Combat:

We hosted our 5th annual AMA sanctioned Open class "B" event on June 6th at the SMAA field.  This year we held an SSC Combat prior. We had 9 pilots for the SSC and some of the diehard Open B pilots assisted with judging, later commenting how they can see the challenges of SSC.  The day was very warm and extremely windy. The small .15 size engines created a few issues for launching but the combat was very successful. Pictures and Winners to be posted when I receive them.  We were able to hand out cash prizes to the top 3 pilots as well as a gallon of fuel provided by Roy Jelniker, thanks Roy and to ALL that helped out that day. We greatly appreciate everyone's help and humor.

Sanctioned Open "B" combat followed a terrific BBQ Beef lunch. We had a total of 11 pilots for these six rounds of air fury.  I would like to make note that we had 2 very likeable pilots fly in from L.A. California for our meet. Wow. They did very well with one of them placing 2nd in the SSC event.  Anyway, pictures will follow when I receive them but I believe we had a total of 6 mid air collisions in Open B, considerable damage was done in most of them. There was even a complete lawn dart landing, pretty cool.
